WELCOME EVERYONE.
I have been working on this album since March and am so happy to finally share it with you all :)
I wanted to create something really special for the families on this landmark anniversary, and in turn raise funds for the valuable work fulfilled by the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. More than ninety countries lost citizens in the events of September 11th 2001, and 'Ten Years On' aspires to connect us all worldwide, through heartfelt music and lyrics.
I have programmed the album from the heart and hope you will feel the love and thought put into it. I went through hundreds and hundreds of songs, hand picking those which relate directly to the days events, or are related to the universal themes of loss, hope, and sharing the world. Everyone would make it differently, I hope you find this to be a beautiful compilation of music.
The project is extremely close to my heart because of my personal connection to the tragic day. I was working on my debut album ‘Finally Woken’ in Park Slope, Brooklyn, in September 2001, when I met David & Paula Berry who kindly let me stay with them. After a late, 4am studio session, I woke up in their home on September 11th to the devastating news. David tragically died in the South Tower and I helped Paula and her three young boys as their world began to unravel. An immeasurable bond with the family and New York City was born that day.
Your kind contributions will help with necessary fundraising for the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, a sacred place where all who were lost are honored, and which for many is the resting place of their loved ones. The 9/11 Memorial will receive 100 percent of profits from sales of the album.
I want to thank all the artists, songwriters, managers, labels, publishers, mastering, artwork and website collaborators, distributors, everyone whose combined efforts have helped make this album possible, especially all at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. I am honored to have produced this moving album.
Thank you for your support for the 9/11 Memorial,
Jem
